Just a pain to get two R5 camera bodies in a row that required replacement and/or repair.ĥ0 on the sensor is too many in my opinion. So, I sent the second R5 in for repair and they were able to replace the LCD. No issue in the sensor, viewfinder, or images, but annoying nonetheless to have s defective LCD screen on a new camera. It was an LCD issue only, as it was present when looking at the menus and it was in the same physical location no matter how the screen was rotated. This second R5 had two pixels on the rear LCD that were the wrong color. The first R5 that I got (with an issue where it scrolled through the menus on its own) could not be fixed, so Canon replaced it with a second R5. Same as you describe, but on top it has 50+ damaged pixels on the sensor too If it need to use the camera with the lens cap on the see stuck pixels then it doesn’t seem like much of a problem as i never do that with my cameras. Ive owned a bunch of canon cameras and never had a problem, so i don’t think it is common. If it's common to have some, I'd hate to go through the hassle of a return/exchange, only to have the replacement the same!Īnyone with an R5 interested in taking an information poll? ie - leave your lens cap on, turn on the camera and see if you can see stuck pixels in the EVF of rear LCD? Honestly, I'm considering returning my R5 because of this (never noticed it on my previous Panasonics and Sony bodies, then again didn't look for them, but neither did I for the R5. I noticed several stuck red pixels in the EVF and one red on the rear LCD when I happened to notice it when the camera was turned on with the lens cap on (wasn't even particularly looking for them).

Out of curiosity, does anyone know if stuck (or dead) pixels on the R5's EVF of rear LCD is a common occurrence?Īccording to the R5 manual, 0.01% is expected and is normal according to Canon. I'm loving the high resolution for cropping, the dynamic range, the great looking video, wireless connectivity to my iPhone, and of course the quick and precise AF. Hearing this makes me feel much better!īesides this one minor issue, the R5 has been a fantastic camera.
#Led dead pixel check software
I just called Canon's customer service and they told me just send it in whenever, they'll run some reprogramming software on the screen to try to fix it, and that it is, of course, covered under the 1 year warranty.
#Led dead pixel check professional
You're right, this should be remedied by a qualified professional as I'd rather not damage it myself, and I'd rather not have it on a beloved, very expensive new purchase. Thanks for the information and advice Juppeck, as well as everyone else. That is not nice and I hope I can address the problem.

On top, there are 50-60 hot/dead/stuck pixels on the sensor. I have noticed a blue pixel right at the center of the screen and it is not a sensor, it is the LCD. I have purchased my R5 and I like it a lot, especially with the 85 1.2 RF:-)
